Meet God

Meet God

The Bible says that Knowing God is not only seeing His miracles but learning His ways. God created the Heavens and the earth. When God created man, what he had in mind was one who was to be one with Him in terms of love, kindness and faithfulness. This is the golden thread which links God’s creation. Mankind is designed to think, plan and act with God. When you act with God, you will know God’s opinion about yourself and others; you will know what will happen next. Are you acting with God? If not, it is not too late to start believing God’s word. God is not far from you. This brings us to our message: MEET GOD.

Exodus 3:2-4

“There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up. So Moses though, “I will go over and see this strange sight – why the bush does not burn up.” When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, “Moses! Moses!” And Moses said, “Here I am.”

We are called to God’s kind of lifestyle. This is a lifestyle of positive thinking, positive talking and positive acting. These are four roots in God. When you have this kind of lifestyle, nothing can change your mind about what you believe, nothing on the outside can dictate the direction of your confession and nothing can derail you from your focus. Your attitude will be constant. This is God’s standard.

God is Spirit. This is one of the first, the greatest, the most sublime and necessary truths in the compass of nature. There is a God, the cause of all things, the fountain of all perfection, without parts or dimensions, filling the Heavens and the earth, pervading, governing and upholding all things. He is the commander, the instructor and the controller. In Romans 4:17, He calls the things that are not as if they were and they come to be.

Communion with God springs from our union with Christ. Because God is a Spirit, Christ came to declare God to us. God is in all ages gathering into Himself a generation of Spiritual worshippers. Not only does God desire the inward part in our worship but truth in the inward part. The Spirituality of divine nature is the very good reason for the Spirituality of divine worship. Spiritual union with Christ establishes a deep sense of intimacy which finds its union in spiritual communion. God is in His word and He does nothing without His word because Christ and the word are one. The word takes place of the unseen Christ. Through the word, we have access to God by His Spirit. Jesus is the word by whom God speaks to us today. I am in it, you are in it and most importantly, God is in it. Here, you meet God face to face.

Each subtle, significant and powerful word of scripture is meant for you; on word of scripture may speak today, another tomorrow but God sent each of them straight into your life. We need to develop our relationship with the Holy Spirit by reading our Bible daily with devotion. He is with you in the living word. The Living Word is not in the book, nor is it on the written page. The Living word is in the lips of the believer.

The Bible is given to us in the first place, simply to invite us to make ourselves at home in the world of God and become more familiar with the way God speaks and the way in which we answer Him with our lives. The Bible is the Chronicle of God’s love for His people from the darkness before Eden to eternity with Him in Heaven. It says that God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son so that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16). The more you read the Bible, the more you understand yourself and this great God who created you. The more you think about what you have read, the more you become familiar with His voice.

It is not our mere wishful thinking but our rightful focus that establishes a deep sense of intimacy with God. It is not only committing the word to memory which is valuable; it is letting the word become an integral part of our being – it lives in us. Let the word become an integral part of you. The word is a bridge to where God dwells. Meditation in the word of God is a visit with Him. The word carries you beyond the realm of sense knowledge into the very presence of God, giving you a right standing there. There, you meet God face to face. God speaks to us through His word and by His Spirit. You are what you give your attention to. If you give your attention to God, you are what God says you are, you have what God says you have and you can do what God says you can do. God’s word works in us when we receive it and attend to it.

1 Samuel 3:7-10“Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD: The word of the LORD has not yet been revealed to him. The LORD called Samuel a third time, and Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, “Here I am; you called me.” Then Eli realized that the Lord was calling the boy. So Eli told Samuel, “Go and lie down and if he calls you, say, ‘speak, LORD for your servant is listening.’ So Samuel went and lay down in his place. The LORD came and stood there, calling as at the other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” then Samuel said, “speak, for your servant is listening.”

When we know the word of God speaking to us, it will not be difficult for us to obey it; it will not be difficult for us to act upon it. But today, because we don’t know that the word is God speaking to us, when God speaks, we take it as if it were man speaking. The moment young Samuel knew that the word was God speaking to him, he paid attention to it and began to operate in the new realm above the senses. He became a communicator between the visible and invisible. He began to think with God, plan with God and act with God.

When the Holy Spirit begins to speak to us, changes are beginning. When you get His presence, you will change: your thinking will change, your philosophy will change. The word is the seed of divine life that comes into your heart and causes faith to grow. Faith comes when the word prevails over the thinking processes. It is the development of God’s word on the inside that gives birth to your capacity to believe. If your heart and your mind are filled with God’s word, you will speak the word. When the word of God dominates your mouth, it will dominate your mind, it will influence your conduct and behavior.

Matthew 4:1-11 – The word of God in Jesus’ lips prevailed over the tempter. Jesus spoke the word of faith and satan became demoralized and paralyzed. Exodus 14:13 – the word of God in Moses’ lips prevailed over the law of nature: he spoke the word of faith and the Red Sea was divided. Children of God, speak forth God’s word believing that He will bring it to pass. Few of us realize the effect of our spoken word on our own heart and on our adversary. What a man can say either release or negate what he believes in his heart. Ask the woman with the issue of blood and she will tell you that it takes faith to break loose from an unbelieving crowd.

God’s word abiding in you gives you an authority in Heaven – that is a thrilling fact. Whatever you say here shall be said in Heaven. Whatever you bind here shall be bound in Heaven. Whatever you loose here shall be loosed in heaven. Jesus has not place in the life that is not dominated by the word because Christ and the word are one. Failure to give Christ His proper position in our heart is actually responsible for the crisis of our faith. If you take God’s word to heart and truly make it part of you, it will by its very nature change you and when it does, you will find yourself called to act – to act with God.
