Good citizens are good Christians

Whatever makes men good Christians, makes them good citizens.

Going by Romans 13, the concept of Christianity and good citizenship are inseparable. They are both synonymous; both go in tandem, pari passu. When you look at your constitution in your country, you will read, “Thou shall not kill; thou shall not destroy; thou shall not do this; thou shall not do that”. Whatever makes a good Christian, makes a good citizen. If you are a good citizen, you must pray against broken homes because at the beginning of marriage, the law say, “For better, for worse; come rain, come shine”. Coming to the issue of faith, I am a Christian; I am not a religious man. Striving against people and standing on the pulpit and speaking against others – we are fighting the wrong battle. We are to battle the spiritual entities that cause tension, killing, stealing and destruction. We are not fighting the physical appearance that we are seeing. Our battle is not against flesh and blood.

Ephesians 6:10-12, “Finally my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” The gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ is the Good News. The message is righteousness. When you hear the message, it gladdens your heart. We have the ability to preach; Jesus makes it happen in the person of the Holy Ghost.

As a Christian, you need to apply yourself to your work; you need to apply yourself to your duty as a Christian soldier. When soldiers in the physical world go to war, they carry guns and ammunitions but we don’t carry such things. Our weapons are not the ammunitions we see; they are not the guns we see – they are spiritual. 2 Corinthians 10:4, For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal…..”

It is not the physical appearance that is our enemy. We are not fighting the physical appearance we are seeing. If you are not armed for battle, you will fight the wrong battle. I will not just give you a weapon without telling or teaching how to use it. The people that are fighting, striving against people, standing on the pulpit, speaking against others, “That man is not good; that person is not good; that religion is not good,” are not armed. If you are armed. The person who armed you will tell you how to use his weapon. If you are armed, the savior that armed you would tell you the battle to fight. If you are not armed for battle, you will not listen to the inner voice of the Holy Spirit.

If you are not armed for battle, you will be fighting the wrong battle. For example, in a battle between one country and the other, before they would give you a weapon, they must give you training on how to use the weapon and the time to use it. The captain or battalion would tell you. They would appoint you to the battalion that is leading you to the war and they would tell you the time. They have signs. Each country has its signs. That is why if one country gives a sign to its soldiers in the battle, the other country would not understand what they are saying.

Because they give you ammunition, they must also tell you how to use it and the time to use it. I am to preach, teach but Jesus makes it work; Jesus makes it happen in the person of the Holy Ghost. The Bible teaches people about Jesus but you have no power to change anyone. Jesus Christ is the one that has power to change. If everyone grows into this, there would be no crisis anywhere. We would live together. But today, people want to change others at all costs. This is where crisis comes – killing and stealing everywhere. When you are forcing people to your faith, such cannot last. Faith is a thing of the Spirit. We don’t force people; let’s live together. Preach your Gospel, live the message given to you about our Lord Jesus Christ and let peace reign. Good Christians are good citizens. I will only stand to talk about my Lord Jesus. Love is very strong and we are known by our love. We are not fighting flesh and blood; leave it for God…..TBJ-SCOAN
