Trusting in Christ’s suffering

As a Christian and member of the household of faith, the only way to feel god about yourself – I mean the only way to enjoy the rights and privileges in Christ Jesus is to begin to believe and accept what Jesus Christ has done for you. He died for you, reigns in power for you and still prays for you. By His sacrifice, Jesus Christ was delivered up that we might be delivered, healed, blessed and saved. Yes! Our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ was then delivered to be crucified. Through His chastisement, His rebuke was in order to our peace, yet there was no peace made but by His blood on the cross. Remember, a cross was set up in the ground where hands and feet were nailed. Oh! It was a shameful death, painful death, cursed death, so miserable!

Those who will be His disciples must follow Him bearing His cross and reproach. We are supposed to be among those who shall reign with Him by being with Him when the goings are good and when they are tough as well. By His suffering on the cross of Calvary, there is fullness of grace and assurance of security for all believers here on earth and even beyond the grave.

Therefore, when we are restrained from doing what we would, we should do what we can in His service because Jesus Christ is our refuge, our strength, our savior, our redeemer – a very present help in trouble.

1st Peter 2:21-24This clearly indicates that our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ was crushed, tortured, humiliated, dehumanized and brutally murdered for our sake. He responded with forgiveness, knowing that His death on the cross would accomplish salvation to mankind. In other words, Christ Jesus purchased healing, deliverance, salvation and all of God’s blessings for us at the price of great suffering. This simply means that the fact that Jesus Christ died on the cross of Calvary to provide all our needs makes it unnecessary for us to complain, suffer, lament or be in want of one thing or the other.

Therefore, the very foundation for receiving answers to our prayers is to base faith on the fact that Christ died to provide what we are asking for. That is healing, deliverance, salvation and all of God’s blessings have been paid for and offered freely at the price of great suffering. Take them by faith! They are yours for the asking. I don’t mean faith in faith but faith in the finished works of our Lord, Jesus Christ at Calvary.

Remember, of all graces faith honors Christ the most; of all graces Christ honors faith the most.

This clearly shows that, to get our prayers answered, we must depend entirely on the merit and mediation of our Lord Jesus Christ as the only ground for any claim. That is by His wounds, we are healed, delivered, and saved.People of God, you will not be healed, delivered, blessed and saved today because you have suffered so much or because you are faithful to the church, No! Because it is not works of righteousness which we have done but by His grace that we are what we are. Therefore, you will be healed, delivered, blessed, and saved because you believe that by His wounds you are healed, delivered, blessed and saved.

Colossians 1:20What is your burden? Are you feeling too guilty? Are you seeing yourself as the worst sinner in our midst? Don’t lose hope! Because Jesus Christ shed His blood at Calvary in order to save sinners like me and you. Cheer up! You have not committed the unpardonable sin; whether your sins are great or small, Jesus Christ is able to forgive them all. Dirty as you think you are, He can still cleanse you. Because to His power, nothing is impossible. We have seen a sinner’s character healed; we have seen a harlot become chaste; we have seen a drunkard become sober; we have seen a liar become truthful, simply by trusting in Christ’s suffering. That is, admitting your guilt, acknowledging your sins and then trusting in Christ’s sacrifice to make you whole within.

2nd Timothy 4:8We are made to understand that believers who live, move and have their being simply by trusting in Christ’s suffering, see Heaven as their home, their dwelling place and they really long to be there. You can be a true Christian, a true believer, a born again and at the same time face troubles and difficulties. Remember the promise of victory to all Christians in 1st Corinthians 10:13. Our Lord Jesus Christ did not promise to keep us away from troubles and difficulties but He promised to see us through them.

Remember Paul and Silas in Acts 16:16-40

As Christians, no matter what comes, no matter what happens, keep your solid front. I mean stand your ground fearlessly and without wavering, simply by trusting Christ’s suffering, the crown of life is as sure for you as if it were already upon your head. God bless you. ….TBJ SCOAN
