To Pray For Paris A question of humanity not politics

As written by Femi Fragile

KINDLY READ AS A HUMAN BEING, SET ASIDE ALL POLITICAL OR RELIGIOUS SENTIMENT.

I woke up this morning filled with sadness over the failure of humanity. The promotion of rebellion; the hypocrisy of religion and individuals, most of whom I presume are only schooled but not self-educated. I grief over the way politics and racism have clouded the judgment of the common man. I am sorrowfully astonished to listen to people argue against ‘a moment of prayer’- #PrayForParis.

Is that too much to ask of anyone? Why should one compare losses in order to justify ignorance? What will it cost you to close your eyes to the Western politics, and open your heart to God in order to avert ‘the worst case scenario’? I quietly listened as someone compared the loss of countless lives to the terror of Boko Haram with the scores of lives lost in the Paris shooting. The individual said “why should #PrayForParis trend when #PrayForNigeria didn’t.” ShoroNiyen? Oh, Oya mi lenu o! Such a perturbing statement, perhaps he was sleeping when the world trended #BringBackOurGirls.

If you are arguing against social media freaks that just want to follow the trend, it’s understandable, but come on, don’t argue to defeat/rubbish the purpose for which its being done. Why on earth should you justify death with death and terror with terror? Are we in a dying competition? Is one life more important than another? Permit me to conclude that whoever still argues against the rationale of praying for Paris is worse than an integration of ISIS, Boko Haram and all world terrors. Such individuals are inhumane.

So, to my African and Nigerian family, are we still dwelling on the pain colonialism, racism and apartheid inflicted on us? Obviously, if not, some of us wouldn’t have fallen victim to Xenophobia (in South Africa). Why am I surprised? We can’t even tolerate ourselves. We swim in pretense. WAKE UP,HUMANITY BEFORE HYPOCRISY! If you don’t want to pray for Paris, at least pray for humanity. The past should motivate us to fight for a better future (against Boko Haram and corruption), not enslave our heart in hate (against mourning French citizens).

It will shock you to know that many of these antagonists can’t even defend their claims. Such individuals criticize anything, including their own purpose, poor victims of ignorance. Citizens of France marched against Boko Haram; their women supported the call for the return of the Chibok Girls. What’s the reason for the undefined hate? If you don’t have sense, do you also lack emotions? Maybe you’d feel different if that relative of yours who finally got the chance to visit Paris was caught by a straying bullet on the day ugliness scarred her beauty.

Some people don’t fear God, even atheists submit to conscience. I was amazed when I heard someone say Allison Deziani doesn’t have cancer and that the picture of her on the social media is just the work of a very talented makeup artiste that painted her face. Aye, let mankind be great! She is firstly human before becoming a politician, respect that! Doesn’t your religion preach peace? My bible tells me to follow peace with all men; it even encourages me to love my neighbor as myself. What does your Quran/EseIfa say? Oh, to support acts of war or terror? Continum, Diaris God.

This infamous jealousy or sentiment is the reason our democracy still suffers, calling blood red ink. Ignoring the good in others and clinging to their flaws and misfortune. The Westerners are evil, yet most of us will do anything to acquire a visa to the poorest amidst the European countries. Enue lewa yen!

When that Lagos monarch threatened to throw our brothers into the lagoon if they voted for another brother, we all criticized him. Why not invoke that same spirit and pray for Paris? As for me, I’d rather take a moment to pray, rather than bow my head in sadness to observe a minute silence for deaths my prayer could avert. Before our different races and nationalities, we are first humans. I will fight for the survival of Nigeria in every way I can (because it is my fatherland; where my heart lies), can’t say the same for other countries, but praying for them won’t hurt (there is no point trending D.P If you won’t pray).

OF COURSE, AS HUMANS, OUR OPINION DIFFERS. THIS IS SOLELY MINE. THANKS

EARTH CRIES FOR HELP, DO NOT IGNORE IT. MAY THE DEAD FIND PEACE IN THE WORLD BEYOND AND MAY GOD HEAL OUR LANDS. #BRINGBACKOURGIRLS #NOTOBOKOHARAM #NOTOTERROR #PRAYFORHUMANITY #PRAYFORPARIS

  1. Social media is 85% about showing off/faking it…I get ur good point though…Weldone for d write up Elsie

  2. i agree with most things written here but there are a few things i must point out. first bring back our girls trended world wide because the western govts wanted to bring down the previous Nigerian administration which was not favorable to them. have the girls been found? has boko haram not committed worse atrocities since this administration took over? why has the western media and even the Nigerian media been silent about such? nobody in the world deserves to die such violent deaths as caused by these terrorists but the hypocrisy of our Nigerian brethren is amazing. they would rather take up a foreign cause than address the rot in their own background. as for me. it is Nigeria first before any other nation. the prayers and healing of the world will begin with a prayer for my country everyday. thank you
