Talk is CHEAP

1st Samuel 17:45 – “David said to the Philistine, “you come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel whom you have defied. 46 – This day the Lord will hand you over to me, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. Today I will give the carcasses of the Philistines army to the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth, and the whole world will know there is a God in Israel.”

48 – “As the Philistine moved closer to attack, David ran quickly towards the battle line to meet him. 49 – Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he feel face down on the ground”

The first paragraph of this article is a verse from the famous David and Goliath story in the bible where David boasted of what he would do to the Giant in the name of the Lord, and the second paragraph – verse 48, shows David swinging into full action and taking hold of God’s promises in his life.

Many of us today find it very easy to pray and quote the promises of God (bible) into our lives and situations but how many of us do actually stand up to take charge of the situation? It’s time we realize we have a role to play. Our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ, already played his role, therefore it is left to us to do our own bit. There is nothing like delayed blessing. That time which we have termed ‘blessing being delayed’ is time for us to work towards that blessing and become stronger and right for that position. To be fit when you are called to service.

For example, you say you want to be the best bead maker in Lagos state and you are not ready to go through your learning and developing period, how exactly do you expect to be the best bead maker in town? Our God is not a magician, He blesses the work of your hands.

Remember David didn’t just wake up from a long sleep to face Goliath. He wasn’t a lazy small boy who expected to be served breakfast, dinner and lunch. He was a hardworking young lad tending to flocks. He had been able to face similar stiff opposition and hence was prepared to move to the next level. God wants you to Arise and Shine and he is going to bless the works of your hands. What are you doing at the moment? You are searching for a life changing job, how many CVs have you submitted? What personal training do you undergo? How many people around you have you told you need a job?

Talk is cheap, make hay while the sun shines. Take actions, take bold steps, and walk in faith. Keep at whatever you are doing now, improve on your skills, and remain steadfast and prayerful. His thoughts towards his children are of good and never of evil. The Lord shall bless the works of thy hands.

When you have spoken the word of God into that situation, walk in the answers of that prayer. Do not sit back in pity. Go out there and claim your blessings? Make calls, make contacts. Do not sit back to say, ‘ahh no, that man/woman can’t help anyone’, no, we serve a God who has the heart of men in His hands. Make that move by faith, get that appointment by faith and excel in faith. If David had sat down in pity, saying, ‘no, how can I face this giant, I am just a small boy. He defeats everyone.’ Then he won’t be able to defeat Goliath, but he spoke and acted on his words. Remember, Talk is cheap. Take actions.

Have a blessed week. Amen
