When Jack Burke from hims reached out to me to participate in the November initiative for influencers to highlight different things we do to improve our health – emotional and physically, it doubled as a reminder for me to share these tips I had been procrastinating on. Sometimes you have that blog post idea up there but getting yourself to convert it into a blog post can sometimes become mission impossible. But here we are…The lifestyle decision you make daily can influence your health and lifespan. Some of these lifestyle choices can be difficult to implement, but then, it helps you discipline yourself and work on your focus and determination. So here are some lifestyle choices you should consider (I personally follow through on these ones):
Eat more Fruits & Vegetables
It is healthier to eat a fruit a day instead of taking anti-oxidants or vitamins supplements. I am sure you have heard the saying – “A fruit a day keeps the doctor away”. For a longer life, researchers say eat 800grams of fruits and vegetable daily. “Fruits and vegetables have been shown to reduce cholesterol levels, blood pressure and to boost our blood vessel and immune system.”
Keeping hydrated is one of the best things you can do for your body. Drink between 1l to 2l of water daily. It helps eliminate fatigue, keeps skin fresh and healthy, decrease risk of problem with your kidneys and aids digestion.
If you can register at a gym close to your house (or office), then awesome. But if not, you can also do simple exercises at home with the help of online video tutorials. Experts say recommended amount of exercise is between 30 to 60 minutes, 4 – 6days a week. Exercise can help you reduce risk of diseases and certain aging effects, it keeps your body fit, reduces stress and increases energy. It can also help in fighting depression.

Sleep plays a huge role in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Ensure you get 7 to 9 hours of sleep daily.
Of course it is advised to abstain from sex, especially when you are not married. However, if you are sexually active, please practice safer sex.
Read a Book
Oh yea, I don’t claim to have read too many books but I read and it helps me channel my emotions. PS: if you start reading a book and you are not feeling it or it doesn’t speak to you, dump it and go for another one. You should be getting something from whatever book you choose to read
