How to Stay Motivated Regularly

We all indeed need some motivation to achieve our dreams and goals. Today is World Suicide Prevention Day, and we have decided to share some tips on how to stay motivated, especially when you feel down or sad. Below are some essential tips to keep you motivated regularly.

Take an evening walk

Take a walk, especially around nature. Maybe find a garden to visit. Getting yourself around the serenity of nature can help calm your mind and boost your mood. You can also get inspiration to work on something.

Engage in regular exercises

Exercising increases the level of endorphins in the brain, which further helps to reduce anxiety and depression. There will also be an increase in your energy levels, with you becoming motivated to perform daily tasks.

Visualize and set attainable goals

Creating a mental picture of what you plan to achieve and believing that these goals are achievable is a practical process that will likely keep you motivated. To avoid being frustrated, you should start with simple and attainable goals. You should keep your goals doable, as this will encourage you to get things done efficiently. Also, consider putting only a few things on your to-do list each day to avoid being discouraged even before you start.

Don’t compare yourself with other people

Before you become an expert in anything, you have to first be a beginner. So no matter how many times you seem to have failed, ensure you don’t feel discouraged. Keep up the struggle. Your goals are mostly yours, and only you can accomplish them the way you want. Don’t bother about any other person that seems to be doing better or faster than you are. Keep yourself happy by focusing on you. Life is not really about competition; it is more about fulfilling our individual goals and aspirations.

Track your progress

By tracking your progress, you record every new challenge you encounter, any form of improvement, and any further developments. This way, you can properly evaluate the progress made so far. Tracking your progress can be the motivation you need to keep going and pushing through.

Spend time wisely

Time waits for no one. Therefore, it would be wise to limit time on things that often waste your time, like spending too much time on social media. Admiring and bingeing on other people’s posts, whether friends or family, who may be doing better, may make you feel inferior and depressed. Instead, spend that time focusing on your goals and crafting out plans to achieve them.

Reward yourself

It takes consistency, focus, commitment, and hard work to achieve any goal. So, take out time to celebrate every single progress you make. Take yourself out, maybe with friends, and celebrate yourself. This keeps you motivated to pursue the next goal. Ensure you design a reward system that gives you a reason to move forward.

Don’t give up

Even if you are not feeling motivated anymore, you should try to still stick to your plans. Don’t replay a negative situation over and over again in your mind. Ensure you are not a hostage to your past by always reviewing and reliving your mistakes. Release the negative emotions and memories, and try to let them go. Find a way to move on. No matter what, ensure you don’t keep up.

Ask for help

There are different ways to ask for help. You can seek help from reading self-help books, a mentor, a coach, a therapist, a partner, a friend, or a family member. It doesn’t matter much who it may be; just go ask them for advice. However, ensure that anyone you choose to meet is genuinely understanding and concerned about you.
