Blog Festival | Violated | by Daginne Aignend

In a cheerful mood, she walks home

after an evening with the girls,

as always filled with wine and laughter

It’s getting cold and it starts to drizzle

The moist cobblestones of the desolate street

are reflecting a lugubrious shadow play

in the dim light of the sole lantern

It suddenly makes her feel uneasy

She looks back over her shoulder

and she thought she saw someone

approaching, in panic, she starts to run

A sudden sharp pain,

something hit her on her head

Dizzy, petrified by fear, hands everywhere

Tearing, grabbing, violating, penetrating

‘You must eat something’

A friendly voice, offering her

some sandwiches and fresh fruit

She doesn’t respond, indifferent

almost apathetic, no feelings nor interest

in the world around her

Only the feeling of disgust exists

she hates her impure, besmeared body

Languishing she glides into a catatonic state

Comatose, brain dead, tubes everywhere

Soft whispers, an endearment, words of comfort,

flickering lashes, a faint sigh

When his tears caressed her silent face

it was an incentive for her to open her eyes

Slowly she regained her trust,

overcame her self-hatred

due to the everlasting support

and the power of his love.

She will be emotionally damaged forever

but she survived.
