The Weapons of Our Warfare

It takes the Spiritual mind to understand the Messiahship of our Lord Jesus Christ on earth was not to be compared to that of the Roman Army General. While the Roman Army General relied on weapons such as machetes, javelins, guns or the weapons of mass destruction, Jesus’ weapon is not carnal but Spiritual. When Jesus was being tempted, He did not cry out for special weapons; Jesus knew the answers. The answers are always in the word of God. As He began to quote the eternal word of God, satan became demoralized and paralyzed. As Christians, Jesus Christ has given us the word of God as a special weapon that no power of satan can withstand.

The weapons of our warfare are not carnal but Spiritual through God in pulling down every demonic stronghold. I mean that our plan of strategy against satan’s military strong holds is the Holy Bible. The Living Bible is our authority. It is not on the written page but in the lips of the believers. As believers, we use the word of God to defeat the enemy. As we approach the throne of grace and mercy, we come with our mouth filled with the word of God. If your heart and mind are filled with God’s word, you will speak that word.

In Matthew 4:1 – 11, Jesus spoke the word aloud directly to satan in the wilderness, thus giving the battle plan to the Christians on how to defeat the devil. If you want to be victorious in your confrontation with satan, please, learn the value of God’s word on your lips. For it is the word of God coming out of your lips that produces an overcoming spirit in you. The Bible taught us in Ephesians 6:17 that those who overcome satan will be required to use the power of the spoken word. We are combating demons, sicknesses and diseases with the word of God and the word of God is the sword of the spirit in the Christian’s armor.

What are your weapons against satan’s military strongholds? Many have chosen to use the weapons of propaganda, intimidation, blackmail, campaign of calumny, name calling and slanderous remarks against their fellow human beings which have not only brought about an unlimited battle in the Christendom today, but have also brought forth a constant experience of defeat in spiritual warfare. Are you one of them?

Look at the case of David in his encounter with Goliath. In 1 Samuel 17:45 – 50, it was the word of God in David’s heart that became the weapon against Goliath. Hence David’s victory was in choosing the right person – God’s armor. With his confidence in his invisible but unconquerable God, he confronted Goliath headlong. He refused to be intimidated by Goliath’s usual tactics of intimidation, propaganda and blackmail because the higher hand that was leading him was leading him to something higher – victory.

As a Christian, Jesus Christ has given you the word of God as a special weapon that no power of satan can withstand. God’s word living in you grows and gains supremacy over you. It is the word of His grace that builds faith into the heart of the believer. Therefore, the heart must be rooted and grounded in the word and in love. In Jeremiah 23:29, Heaven says that the words of God are your Spiritual armor and weapons that break every rock into pieces. God desires us to have them but many forsake.

Mind you, if David had accepted Saul’s armour and weapons, the miraculous victory would have fallen short of being purely divine and the deliverance reduced to a normal one. So in 1 Samuel 17:39, he politely said to Saul, ‘I cannot go with these, for I have not tried them, I have tried God’s armour and found it very reliable, dependable, well-grounded, well-founded, trustworthy, guaranteed, real, genuine, authentic and incontestable.

As Christians, we are walking with the Lord, therefore, we are not used to propaganda, intimidation, blackmail, campaign of calumny, name-calling and Slanderous and remarks. Like David, be familiar with God’s word, your spiritual weapon. David spoke the word of faith and the giant fell.

Your giant could be a spirit of infirmity, demonic attacks, a constant experience of limitation in progress, backwardness, hardship or bareness. Just as David came face to face with Goliath and addressed him directly with the word of faith, you too can address your giant directly with the word of faith.

You spirit of infirmity, demonic attacks, constant experience of limitation in progress, hardship or barrenness, though I may appear weak by your reckoning, greater is He that is in me than your size, ammunition and forces put together. The Lord will manifest His strength in my weakness today. He is mighty in battles. In Him I live, move and have my being; He is my savior, Helper, Healer, Deliverer, my all. I refuse to fail; Jesus has given me success. I refuse to be sick; the Lord has given me good health. I refuse to accept poverty; the Lord has blessed me. You satan, today you shall take my place in sickness, affliction, failure, poverty and death.

When you speak God’s word over a person or a situation, you have released your faith and brought God’s power on the scene. Oh, how strange yet wholly true, the weak filled with power, the father’s work shall do. You that are weak – fear not. For God’s word abiding in you gives you an authority in Heaven. How? This expression, “Jesus’ name”, gives faith in the unseen word sitting at the right hand of God. When this happens, whatever you bind here on earth will be bound in Heaven and whatever you loose here on earth shall be loosed in Heaven.

Take note: Our confidence may be in medicine, in institution or in the arm of flesh, but if it contradicts God’s word, it destroys our faith life; it destroys our prayers. Prayer in the power of the Holy Spirit is the most formidable weapon.

As your prayer springs from your needs, open your heart to Apostle Paul’s advice to all Christian prayer warriors in Ephesians 6:10 – 18. Paul tells us to put on our armour to take advantage of the equipment God has given us to navigate life and negotiate the war that surrounds us. For we have enemies to fight against – these enemies are unseen; we have a captain to fight for – His name is Jesus Christ – the son of the living God. As we have a captain to fight for, we have a banner to fight under – that banner is forgiveness. There are certain rules of war, by which we are to govern ourselves – these rules of war are the fruit of the Holy Spirit.

If you are spiritually strong, the fruit of the Holy Spirit will become your protection against the fruit of the flesh of the adversary. This is the true meaning of my message, “The weapons of our warfare”. TBJ..SCOAN
