Not everything has a name tag.everybody feels something walking down a street they’venever been on.I remember when I thought I knew everything.and now on many days I wake upI do not want to be Wonder Womandidn’t ask for a cape of responsibilitiesand titlesto hang heavy on my backchoke the hallelujah from my throatmany days I wake upI want to stay in bedhave grown tiredof always practicing how to lift my feetto learn the steps it takes to flyand hold myself upsome daysI wake upI do not want to be anythingI do not want to be anyoneI am tired of trying.I want to drink and have sleeping
pills all day, I know I am my own badkill my self again, save me, safe me my friendand still—I carry a superlativeI want so badly to live up toI walk out the doorI put the cape on,and at least when the wind blowsI will feel a little somethinglike flying.Darling, listen.no matter what we doour fingers will end upblistered,our palmsbloodyif welook into the mirrorlong enough to know anything,if we pull the rope harderor let it give,and the only thingthat means anythingis what we’re bruising for.
