To forgive is DIVINE, can you forgive?

Let’s venture into some real life scenarios.

How could one forgive this?

Tunde and Tayo were scheduled to wed on a Saturday. All necessary arrangements had been made. Guests had been invited and the event promised to be the talk of the town. The bride to be was in high spirits. This was supposed to be the happiest day of her life. Suddenly a text came in from her betroth saying

“Tayo, I’m sorry but this wedding can’t go on. I’m in love with Shola (Tayo’s distant cousin) we have been secretly married for the past 2 weeks. I hope u have a space in your heart to forgive me”.

How did Tayo take it? I guess that is one thing we are both going to ponder on for a long time. If we want to be realistic, I don’t believe Tayo will ever be able to forgive Tunde.

Or how do we explain this:

This was one happy family, and they considered Lukas as part of the family. And he was in all rights; He was after all Jerry’s best friend and godfather of their beautiful daughter, Tonia. Right from birth, Lukas loved Tonia and as the years went by, he grew very fund of her likewise little Tonia adored her Uncle Lukas. Even Jerry’s better half, Temisan felt very comfortable entrusting her daughter’s safety into Lukas’ hands. It was a ‘happily ever after’story. Then the cloudy days came. Lukas began to nurse ‘funny’ feelings towards Tonia and next thing we hear, Lukas starts to defile this innocent, little girl. He did this consistently for years without anyone’s knowledge. The day of reckoning comes, Lukas is caught. His relationship with his dear friends is destroyed for ever. Dear mates, tell me, will you forgive such a man?

How about this?

The incident at UNIPORT, where four young and vibrant guys were lynched in broad day light, tell me who can forgive or forget that? A friend sent me the horrific video of how these guys were mercilessly beaten and burnt alive just because they were alleged to have stolen phones and laptops. I stared at the screen in shock and short of words. There is no way to even describe it in writing.

I do not believe the parents of young adults can sit through and watch such gruesome acts carried out on their offspring. I have never appreciated the phrase “it was a painful death” until just now. How can anyone ever forgive these killers?

I sat down in deep thought and then I remembered a scripture in Matthew 18:21-22. It says

“Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven

Reminiscing on this brought me to a conclusion that it takes ‘special grace’ to forgive especially when it is most difficult. Humanly speaking forgiveness is an extremely difficult undertaken but as long as we are conscious of heaven, we have no choice. Indeed it is a rare gift and comes only with SPECIAL GRACE…

Please friends forgive all who have hurt you in one way or the other!!!!!

I was going through the bible and came across this verse;

Yes! Some happenings are unforgetable afterall we are all human!!!forgiveness and moving on

  1. Walai, to forgive is divine. It is even easier said than done most times. Some circumstances are just almost unforgivable in fact.

  3. In Buddhism they have no concept of forgiveness. They believe you should understand the nature of humans and you shouldn’t expect perfection because suffering originates from expectation and attachment. In reality it is a lot easier said than done, but it is something we have to train our mind for. In the end, the grudges we keep hurt us more than the person we grudge 🙂

  4. Hmmmm, Something happen to me recently, I kept something away from my sister but later told her but it was too late for me before I informed her, Thou she said she have forgiven me but I know she can’t forget. And she is not happy with me which I know! Forgiveness is not easy but we just have to let go!!

  5. It’s not easy to forgive..buh my prayer is that God should lead and protect us
