Maximizing Your Money

maximizing your money - elsieisy blog

In my experience with the small cash amounts that come to me ( I go soon hammer lol), I’ve seen how slippery money can be and how we ignore some of the little principles that can help us manage our money better. You may be familiar with most of what I’m going to write but it’s necessary to remind yourself constantly. Below are few steps to maximizing your money:

Days back I saw a tweet that read:

“If you can’t buy it twice, you can’t afford it” and I hold this to be true and will love to share some lessons I learned from bad financial decisions.

IMPULSE BUYING DEVOURS:

I can scream this on the rooftops. This is one of the devourers your pastor always talk about. When you feel pushed to buy something, stop and think before purchasing it, give yourself a window period of like 24 hours and think properly no matter how small you think that amount is.

DON’T LIVE LIKE THE JONESES :

Those designer pants are bad in a good way and will make heads turn. The iPhone looks more prestigious than the infinix but are you done utilizing the features of the infinix? Is it really necessary to change a phone? Will it make your work better? Thinking through this also helps you eliminate debt as much as possible.

PLAN, PLAN PLAN:

Always have a plan for your income. Don’t wait for it to come before you decide what yo do. You’ll always have needs, so it may help to have a priority list. This helps you sift out what is needful and what is not.

BECAUSE YOU CAN AFFORD IT DOESN’T MEAN YOU SHOULD BUY IT:

This is similar to point 3 above. If it doesn’t make your life better or make your work easier, you may want to think deeply before paying.

BUDGET. BUDGET. BUDGET:

Always have a budget. Sometimes things slip a little out of control and you exceed your spending limit but writing a budget helps regulate this, you know what took most of the cash and how to improvise next time.

Anything I should have include that you think I missed? Please share with me in the comments.
