Shivani Gupta, a Delhi based slam poet writes a really touching poem titled – Dear Girl From pakistan, about the relationship between Indians and Pakistans. She writes to an unknown faceless girl from Pakistan about the distance and divide between these two nations. As her poem progresses, we see her wondering out loud about how alike they might be, in terms of looks, aspirations, dreams and fears.
It is usually the people who suffer the most when government and military tear countries apart. This is a confession from a girl from India about how she feels about a stranger on the other side of the border in Pakistan.
Maybe it is time we all think about it and relate this poem to happenings around us.
